Bucharest, April 16 /Agerpres/ - Romanian Foreign Minister Cristian Diaconescu met, on April 16, in Brussels, with president of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Poettering, on which occasion issues were approached on topical aspects on the agenda of the European Union, the situation in the Republic of Moldova, in particular.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the head of Romanian diplomacy appreciated the talks with Poettering as extremely encouraging and stressed that the European Parliament will take new steps in showing its solidarity with Romania and in dealing with other topics which have to be discussed and decided on, such as the sending of a EP mission of information and evaluation to the Republic of Moldova.
