Romanian President and King of Jordan talk about cooperation on Iraqi market

 
 

  

Bucharest, April 6 /Agerpres/ - Romanian President Traian Basescu and H.M. King Abdullah II of Jordan talked on Monday, at the Cotroceni Palace, about the possibility that Romanian and Jordanian companies should work together on the Iraqi market.

'The possibility that Romanian and Jordanian companies should work together on the Iraqi market was in the focus of the examination I have made with His Majesty and both His Majesty and me thought it was high time that economic involvement became primordial in Iraq,' said Basescu in a press statement he made together with the King of Jordan, who is on a two-day official visit to Bucharest.

President Basescu also said that Romania was Jordan's most important trade partner in South-Eastern Europe.The Head of State thanked King Abdullah II for the things he made easier for the Romanian community in Jordan and added that the way its questions were approached was an additional element consolidating the bilateral relations.

'For us Jordan is a traditional partner. 11,000 Jordanian people got their training in Romania, now they hold sound social positions in their country and there is an open door for Romania in Jordan anytime,' said Traian Basescu.

He thanked the King for the visit he is paying to Romania, thus answering the visit paid by the Romanian Head of State to Jordan two years ago. King Abdullah II of Jordan appreciated that the bilateral relations consolidated in this span of time.

'Romania is a friend and a partner of my country's, the two countries have multiple social, cultural, political and economic relations,' he said.

'Your country is an element that is very important for us connecting us both to Eastern Europe and to the EU and I must emphasize that the only embassy my country has in this area is here and I think this speaks volumes,' he added.
