Bucharest,
April 8 /Agerpres/ - Romania on Wednesday firmly denied the
accusations made by the communist regime in Chisinau as
regards Romania's alleged involvement in the protest actions
in the Republic of Moldova.
Romanian
Prime Minister Emil Boc said that Romania would not use
mutuality in its relations with the Republic of Moldova,
after the Chisinau authorities declared the Romanian
Ambassador a persona non-grata.
The
Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) took note with
indignation of the Chisinau authorities' decision as regards
Romania's ambassador to Moldova and firmly rejected the
accusations of the Moldovan authorities regarding an alleged
involvement in the internal affairs of its neighbor, taking
it as provocation.
'It is
unacceptable for the communist power in Chisinau to hold
Romania and its citizens responsible for the internal
problems of the Republic of Moldova,' reads a MAE release.
Also, MAE sees the unilateral travel restrictions announced
by President Vladimir Voronin as 'aberrant'.
MAE also
pointed out that measures similar to those introduced by
Moldova would not be taken by Romania, in the respect that
there would be no reprisals on the staff of the Moldovan
embassy in Bucharest and that the free visa system for the
Moldovan citizens would be maintained. 'Romania has always
supported the independence, self-determination and
territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and will
continue to have an European approach in relations with its
neighbor, despite the anti-Romanian policy of the Communist
authorities in Chisinau,' MAE announced.
The
Romanian authorities said the country would further support
Moldova's getting near the EU, through projects devoted to
the young people who want to study in Romania as well as
through Moldova's participation in European projects for its
citizens.
MAE
mentioned he made its position known to its European and
Euro-Atlantic partners.

Romanian ambassador to Moldova had been declared a persona
non-grata. He also announced the introduction of visas for
Romanian citizens wishing to travel to Moldova and accused
